Re: Stretch text

I have tried another approach, using node sculpting, but it did not work neither at least for me. I think this may be a problem with all Ubuntu instalation also: if I try to drag the mouse while presing ALT key to "sculpt" nodes, inkscape does nothing and after a while moving the mouse, th...

Re: Where is the cross (X) for moving pattern?

Hi brynn, Well, what I do now is to move the object that containst the pattern outside the document boundaries over the white background, and play with the zoom until I find it. Sometimes I also need to apply some transparency to the object itself, because the X is over the pattern and difficult to ...

Where is the cross (X) for moving pattern?

Hi,

Sometimes finding the cross (X) for moving a pattern within a shape is more difficult than the worst "Where is Wally" you can imagine. Is there any easier way to find it than broken your eyes agaisnt the display?

Thanks a lot in advance,

Re: Stretch text

Hi brynn, I use different char sizes here just to ilustrate the ideas, as they are available in this forum, but it is not exactly what I want, since to fit my real needs the same character may be wider at the start than at its end. I do not care too much if I cannot edit the text anymore, so convert...

Re: Reverse the grid

I have 0,48, but where is the option to do so?

This inverted Y axis is a pain in the nose, you know. If you create graphics for other applications, or games, you are obliterated to do a lot of stupid calculations to translate positions of your objects in inkscape to the other system.

Realistic hole in a paper sheet?

Hi, Has someone any tutorial on making realistic holes in a paper with inkscape? I mean those holes with the paper ripped... I tried searching in google, but I think I did not find the exact terms. Re: Clipping webpage parts

I replied in another topic of yours, but you can find some extensions that may not be available in your Inkscape version, here: http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php/ExtensionsRepository. I'm not sure which are the ones being discussed here, but there are 2 or 3 that sound like they might work. I...

Re: Clipping webpage parts

Yes, there is an alternative web slicer extension in r0.48. It seems to work just fine even though it throws up an error. It will even piece your slices together with html+css for viewing. The concept is pretty much the same though. You will place slicer images on a web slicer layer and the script ...

A question about hardware

Hi there, I have an Acer Aspire 9423WSMi a bit old, with an Intel Core 2 Duo T5500 @ 1,66 MHz and 1 GB of RAM, and also an nVidia GeForce Go 7300. Things with The Gimp goes fast enough for my work, since effects are not applied in real time. But with Inkscape, and complex SVG in general, is slower t...

Re: Clipping webpage parts

Hi,

Thank you, I have seen that movie and i have now it pretty clear. Also I have seen that in my version there is a pre-installed slider extension that may help to do it even easier, saving all slices at once.

I will give it a try very soon.

Thank you again.

Hi, As I told before, I have experience on The Gimp, and I was using it to design webpages, but for several reasons I think a vectorial drawing application like Inkscape has many advantages. Re: How to select an object below other at same time

Hi, I have work with The Gimp, but this kind of things are pretty different. In The Gimp you work with layers, and there is no way to select many layers at once, as there is no need to do it neither for most of the operation. You can, anyway, "lock" many layers for moving them at once, but...

Hi, I asked yesterday on how to select an object below another, having both selected for aplying one as a mask to the other. It is a real problem when the mask is bigger or same size than the object. Thanks a lot, but I am facing very basic problems though.
