Re: XKCD colour name survey with over 900 names in svg

hi, The comic has nothing to do with Inkscape. The results of the survey are a text file with the colour code in hex then the name. I used python separately from Inkscape to create a basic svg then imported it into Inkscape to save it. The problem is there is over 900 colour swatches and each has a ...

XKCD colour name survey with over 900 names in svg

hi, XKCD.com is an online comic. The author did a survey of colour names by showing a colour and asking users to name the colour. Thousands of users responded and the results came out a while ago but did not seem to get put into svg. So here are two colour charts with the user names. The first is or...

Inkscape prints on eggs (not quite directly)

hi, A very neat machine prints vectors onto an egg shell or a ping pong ball. I thought this was weird and an interesting gadget. The machine is about $200 and can be found at http://egg-bot.com/ which mentions Inkscape quite a few times. The actual machine can be bought from http://evilmadscience.c...

Re: How to rotate a path and snap to the node of another path?

hi,
Interesting idea but it does not seem to work for me. When rotating an object there does not seem to be a snap to guides. Snapping to guides works for me when moving or skewing an object. Thanks anyway.

Re: How to rotate a path and snap to the node of another path?

Thanks. I already use the Ctrl to rotate and snap to regular angles. Thanks for checking that there is a request for this functionality.

How to rotate a path and snap to the node of another path?

hi, When moving an object snapping to another object works perfectly. I would like to rotate an object and be able to snap to another object. For example I have an object which I want to be rotated two specific nodes are straight up and down. I can click on an object twice then move the center of ro...

How to assign random colour from palette?

hi,
Some parts of Inkscape allow colours to be randomized. Is there any way to get a randomized colour but only of the colours in the current palette? For example if there are only ten colours in the current palette only one of those ten can be chosen.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Will "Paste Style" do what you need?

hi, I don't know how to do this in Python but there is a regular menu item "Paste Style" which may do what you want. Select a line which has the current style that you want and Edit->Copy or Ctrl+c. Select a line or multiple lines which are to receive the style and Edit->Paste Style or Shi...

Internet Explorer 9 will have SVG support with HTML5

Microsoft's Test Drive http://ie.microsoft.com/testdrive/Default.html has a sample of what will be in Internet Explorer 9. Included under the Graphics Demo are a couple of SVG demos including animated SVG. Play SVG Asteroids in your browser. It works for me in Firefox. IE9 will use the GPU so things...

Firefox 3.6 can have wallpaper header & footer

hi, In Firefox 3.6 you can have customized header and footer background images. Firefox calls these "Personas." Take a look at the gallery http://www.getpersonas.com/en-US/gallery or Getting Started http://www.getpersonas.com/en-US/getting_started Uploading them to the public gallery is op...

Re: Cambridge

hi, Very good indeed. Much much better than I can create. Perhaps the mouth may be too wide and the very ends of the mouth usually have a bit of shadow from a little bit of the cheek. The gradient on the white of the eyeballs goes from a very dark to a very light and that seems to cause the eyes to ...

Re: How to save a customized filter?

hi, Worked! :D :D The directory C:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\Inkscape existed but the subdirectory filters did not so that was created. I'm so used to applications needing special file formats that just using a regular Inkscape svg to store filters was a nice surprise. The filter showed up in...

Re: How to save a customized filter?

Thanks.
I looked at that manual many times but did not see that and never saw even a hint that user filters could be put on Windows into a user directory.

How to save a customized filter?

hi, Using 047_pre4_1 (this is a beta release) I applied the Filter->ABCs->Noise Fill then customized the filter. How can I save the customized filter separately from the document so that it can be reused on another document? Is it difficult to create filters and have them be selectable through the m...

Double click guide and path should create node

hi, I have created a rectangle then changed it to a path. While node editing the path I need to create a node where the guide crosses the path. Double clicking on a path normally creates a new node but the guide gets the double click. A double click on a guide brings up a property list of the guide....

Multiple gradients

hi,
Thanks for your suggestion but sorry but I did not explain the situation well. Each rectangle should have the full gradient. What I want would be similar to the button "move gradients along with objects" but with paste style a copy of the new gradient is placed with the object.

When Paste Style the gradient does not move relative

hi, How can a gradient be copied / pasted from one object to another but have the new gradient's location be relative to the new object? For example if a rectangle is created and a gradient assigned to it then a second rectangle is created. Select first rectangle, Ctrl-C is used to copy the first re...
