Wow! That was too easy. Problem solved when I moved the original to the top then deleted it.
Thank you so much!

Thanks for the lines. When I click on the yellow, red, and violet stars I can not edit paths by nodes.

[solved] tiled clones rotation turn to bitmaps (raster)
I've posted this previously and I still can not solve the problem so I'm asking again after trying to unset the color from the fill and the line of the object (star converted to a path.) The objects cloned become rasterized. Please throw me a bone how to clone an object and not rasterize it. Thanks ...

display align and distribute
I'm running Inkscape on Linux and Windows.
We used to see the align and distribute menu. It's not a big deal but that menu is nice to use.
Is there a way to get it back.

Re: tiled clones turn to bitmaps
Are you maybe getting rasterized output when saving to another filetype? I'm not seeing any bitmaps. Do you want to change individual object colors?... in that case, breaking the links to the original is required. Yes. I am trying to clone an object then keep it as an svg so I can change the color....

Re: Can not save files with 0.48 in lab
What do you mean by can not save , save as, or save a copy. The menus are greyed out ? invisible ? visible but not clickable ? Clickable but then a popup opens and when you click "Save" button there's an eror message saying "foo". Can they run a portable version of inkscape (fro...

Re: trim
It would be nice to manually insert a vertices at the intersection points then remove the line between the points. Yes, you can do that! Using the Node tool, double-click on the path where it intersects with one side of the circle. Then again on the other side. Click on the part you want to remove,...

trim2.svg trim2.png Thank you so much for the help. This gives me a better idea of how to approach this problem. The desired output is included above. I see how to include the graphic in the post. What I really want to be able to do is take a single line with lines or a polygon (circle in this case...

trim
I'm not sure if trim is the correct concept. But what I would like to do is cleanly cut the center of overlapping curves.
I used Control + K to combine the curves.

Thanks

Re: convert to to curves?
If I understand, I think you want to select the text, then Text menu > Text to Path. But after you do that, it will never again be text, and can't be editted as text, only as paths -- bezier curves. I used Text to Path to wrap the text around a circle. I'd like to convert the text to a Bezeir curve...

Re: convert to to curves?
What do you mean by "exploded"? Do want to make it all bigger, or make it rounded like bubbles, or to actually look like it's blowing up? Or? When I Import an inkscape df file into Corel I loose all the text. I'd like to convert the text into curves. Preferably Bezier. Then Corel can reco...

Re: I can not snap an object to a grid.
What Inkscape version are you using? The latest (0.48) has a special snapping toolbar where you can turn on various options. It doesn't seem from your drawing you want to snap to guides or the grid, you want to snap one object to another. Snapping to nodes to nodes and nodes to paths might be what ...

Noobie here again. I'd like to snap a circle to the top of a bezier curve. :tool_pen: I went to Document Properties and clicked "Always Snap" on "Snap to Object" , "Snap to Grid", and "Snap to Guide" No luck. Any ideas. http://craigcoleman.com/images/inkscape-...

Hi and welcome to InkscapeForum.com! I believe it refers to the open circle that is contained in the "pattern library file" which was created in the first step of the tutorial. It looks to me like a special file that the tutorial author has created (and provided instructions for creating)...
