Re: Halftone vs. Dithered Shading
A step by step "how to" would be extremely helpful, thank you! You may find this topic interesting. With gimp, using the newsprint filter is the fastest but the look is limited to a straight grid. Thank you! I will check that out. I like Inkscape for Logos and Icons, designs, etc, so I am...

Re: Halftone Shading
I did some more research and it seems, some of the stuff i've seen is indeed dithering. This is a b/w gradient treated with RobA's dithering (Gimp) script . More examples here . this is exactly what I want to do? Did you use Inkscape or Gimp? I wonder If I can do this strictly in Inkscape without m...

Re: Halftone vs. Dithered Shading
So... is there a way to do halftone shading without manually drawing the checkerboard pattern? I want to make a tshirt, only buy 1 blue ink, but using halftone, get dark blue AND light blue to show up by simply allowing half the ink to show up. I see the option under Fill and Stroke to fill with a p...

Re: Mac keyboard shortcut for moving objects up and down
I've been using Inkscape for years on my Mac (10.6) and could never find or figure out the specific Inkscape Mac keyboard shortcuts for raise or lower an object through the layers in a project -- that is from lower layer to upper layer and visa versa, not move the object's position geographically o...

Re: Help with using Combine and Union on a Bezier Curve and Shape
guys, thank you so much! It's for a wedding cake topper for a coworker, and she loves it.
THANK YOU guys! VERY cool forum. I know SOOO little about Inkscape, even though I've used it for so many years. I can only do what I need to do, and it's cool learning more.
Thanks again!

Re: Help with using Combine and Union on a Bezier Curve and Shape
If you want to be safe you can increase the intersection and put an extra cut out "bottom part" of the "g" for an Boolean division operation: http://s11.postimg.org/f8btcfbxv/Mr_G.png Cheers P. OKAY, so... this is what i did to emulate what you did, well, what i THINK you did. 1...

Re: Help with using Combine and Union on a Bezier Curve and Shape
Another question, this was made on our cutter. Is there a "simple" way to get the hanging part of the "g" to appear as a cut out or empty space in the rectangle? I know I could probably draw the bottom of the "g" on, but I didn't know if Exclusion or another function d...

Re: Help with using Combine and Union on a Bezier Curve and Shape
Make it one in 4 Steps : 1. Select everything except the 2 heart paths and call "Path->union" 2. Select small heart path and go for "Path- reverse direction" 3. Select 2 heart paths and call "Path->combine" 4. Select everything and call "Path->union" - voilá....

Re: Help with using Combine and Union on a Bezier Curve and Shape
Ah. Okay. Combine both paths that make up the heart. Turn text to path, ungroup. Union text with rectangle. Create a large rectangle below everything. Do Path -> Difference with Heart. Do Path -> Difference with rectangle/font object Do Path -> Break apart, delete rectangle. Combine the rest. HEY! ...

Here's the file, what do you guys think?

the heart is supposed to go in the middle.

Re: Help with using Combine and Union on a Bezier Curve and Shape
I've also fallen into this trap already... Thought it was a bug, but it isn't. For the Path -> Union operation, two things are relevant: - Path direction - Path fill rule (see a table here: https://launchpadlibrarian.net/232948321/test_union_0.91.svg ) So you can do this: - Do the conversion to pat...

Re: Help with using Combine and Union on a Bezier Curve and Shape
Text must be a path and ungrouped. Also you have to convert strokes into paths. Then Union works. I would do it like this: -perform Union on text (quicker than 'text to path', 'ungroup', 'combine') -select all objects, -convert strokes to path, -Union The problem is that the text Unions fine, but t...
