This is a great improvement over traditional Inkscape workflow.
Thanks a lot!

Re: Windows and Linux speed difference
Thank you all for the answers.
I guess I'll just keep using Linux for the time being and will watch out for a native Windows 64bit build when it will available.
Cheers!

Windows and Linux speed difference
Just happened to me - again - to acknowledge the enormous speed difference between Windows and Linux version of Inkscape. I imported a PDF created from an Autocad file, that came up with a huge amount of objects forming all the lines and curves. Well, the same file make Windows lag *a lot*, almost u...

Re: JPG import not appearing
I just reported a new bug for similar issues on importing bitmaps: https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/317060 .
More often I get a complete crash while trying to import, other times I experience the same issues you described.
I'm on Windows XP by the way.

Re: Bitmap import issues on Development Version ?
Just tried 11-september development release, still no joy. Something changed nevertheless, now I successfully imported a couple of PNG bitmaps, but the application crashed while trying to preview BMP and JPG as well.

Re: Bitmap import issues on Development Version ?
microUgly thank you very much for helping. In the last days I tried all the newest builds (19808 - 19815 - 19816 - 19824) with no luck. Honestly I don't remember which one I was using before, but usually I download a new build every week or so. I'll try to login as a different user to make sure it's...

Re: Bitmap import issues on Development Version ?
Sorry, I get a complete crash of Inkscape when I try to import a bitmap.
This happens while I'm just browsing bitmaps in the Import dialogue.
By the way I'll try again with the future development versions, just hope some developer can check it out.

Bitmap import issues on Development Version ?
Hi all,
is it only my PC or Developmente Versions of the last days have issues importing bitmaps?
I tried the official 0.46 and it works well, but I miss some enhancements I got used to.
Up to one week ago I had no problems with 0.47 pre-releases.

Yes, you are right. The fact is that there are many elements with Gaussian blur activated in these drawings, so the bounding box used for export is not so useful.

Re: Windows Mobile interfaces
Thanks microUgly! I export transparent PNGs from Inkscape and composite them in Gimp layers for slicing up all the different "states". This is mainly because the final images must be transparent TGA, but also because Inkscape takes into account blurs and other elements that make the export...

In this work the icons are from Windows Vista, but all the rest (background, buttons, reflections, etc. etc.) is pure Inkscape.

Display redraw speed
Do you know about View > Display > No filters ? Is it always been there or is it a recent SVN addition? By the way I noticed just today and just love it! :D Disabling filters makes the display refresh so fast, making my cry thinking of how many hours I spent waiting for the redrawing of complicated ...

Re: Rounded coordinates / snap
Raising Numeric Precision seems to solve the problem, or at least minimize it. I must say that I did lower that value to 4 and -4 hoping that this would help rounding coordinates to "friendly" numbers. I was completely wrong. http://img142.imageshack.us/img142/4536/screenshotug9.gif

Re: Rounded coordinates / snap
Exactly!
This happens almost constantly, so I have to correct various coordinates each time I made a change.
I don't know if matters, but I'm using development builds.

[solved] Rounded coordinates / snap
Hi, I'm using Inkscape to make interfaces with very small elements. I do find myself putting a lot of time and effort to produce "pixel-perfect" graphics. What I do find wrong with Inkscape is that it shifts and scale graphics to non even values without apparent reason. See this very simpl...

Just saw this post and wanted to thank MicroUgly and all for the great help!
I'm designing interfaces for Windows Mobile and having pixel-perfect graphics is a must.
Go for it, Inkscapers!
