Problems with the Text Tool

Windows 7 64 bit Inkscape 0.91 I am an infrequent user of Inkscape. Recently I updated from 0.48 to 0.91. No problems, all worked well. Yesterday I encountered a text entry problem that I cannot solve. I open Inkscape and select the Text tool. The default text in the options bar is sans-serif, 4, no...

Re: Rainbow Spiral with Arbitrary number of colors?

I'd like to achieve the following effect, with an arbitrary number of colors: Any ideas? Bonus points for being able to control the amount of swirl! Gimp has a built in function for creating spirals. Very easy to use. I have created 2 sample images using a built-in Gimp gradient. I you want differe...

Re: "Trace Bitmap", "Remove Background" and Transparency iss

A suggestion:
Instead of changing the background of your bitmap to pink, why not change it to transparent? Then trace the bitmap. Does this work?

Re: Apply current color to an object?

1.
Select the object whose colour you want to change.

2.
Select the colour picker tool. It is the eye dropper on the tools bar. Use it to click on the required colour in the bitmap. The object you selected in 1 will change colour.

Re: Vectorize a map

Firstly: Do you need to vectorize the map? You can keep it as a png, add a new layer above the map, then put the names on the new layer. Secondly: Your map is not truly black. In Gimp, select some black with the Colour Select tool. Now Grow the selection by 1 pixel (Select>Grow). Finally, bucket fil...

Re: Circle of circles?

Thanks Lazur
I used your method as an exercise. Much easier than the European Flag tutorial which uses Euclidean Geometry to place the circles.

Re: Circle of circles?

I'm also a noob, so can't help too much,
I found this page:
http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL ... Start.html

Have a look at the European Flag example. It does what you want.

I'm sure there must be an easier way, so I'll be watching replies too.

Re: Exporting high quality images to PDF

I see you have had no replies, so I will tell you what I did. I am an Inkscape newbie, I have only had Inkscape for 2 weeks. My first project was to get business cards printed. I first had to re-create a logo. I then created the business cards and sent them to the printer as pdfs. The end result was...

Page Size and Margins problem

Hi I am a new user. I downloaded Inkscape about 10 days ago. I am using Windows 7 64 bit. I am trying to print a rectangle on an A4 landscape page. The edges of the rectangle are to be 10mm in from the edges of the paper. To do this, I used the following settings for the rectangle: X: 10mm Y: 10 W: ...
