Fix different x and y scales?
I imported a PDF of a map, which has drawn x and y axes. I set my internal unit of measure to mm, and found the scale of the map was 1:4444 in the x direction, but 1:6661 in the y direction. Is there a way to scale everything in the drawing so the x and y scales are equal? Perhaps I can even change ...

MicroUgly: I chose Inkscape in part because it uses the SVG file format, so I can upload files to Wikipedia, and in part because it seems like a good general purpose drawing program; I'm not just interested in circuits. The image is quite utilitarian; my main reason for posting it is to thank the forum members who helped me figure out how to get by with Inkscape.

Subscripts
I'm using V 0.45 on Windows XP. How can I create subscripts? I can use Unicode subscript digits, but I don't know how to do letters.
