Native, true, CMYK and spot color support, (and the ability to export it with the color profile in an industry standard, (pdf.)) Fixing many PDF issues probably goes along with this.

Re: Lock file to prevent simultaneous edits
I'm on Windows. There is a utility, (the free version does enough for me,) called FileHamster. You tell it a folder or folders to watch. Anytime a file is changed or added to that folder(s), it creates a backup to a library location of your choice, renamed with a date stamp. So this is basically rev...

Re: Preview mode?
If I remembe correctly, all InDesign's presentation mode does is show the image free of the interface. You can't strip Inkscape bare like that that I know. You could use inkview, (in Inkscapes program folder,) to open in a new window.

Re: Loss of image detail when tracing.
Fiddling with the trace options can improve things. But sometimes you can't get an autotrace in Inkscape, (or any program,) to produce exactly what you need. Those times, its time to manually trace using the pen tools, (bezier is my goto one.) If you posted or linked to the image, maybe we could say...

Re: Inkscape has vanished
If you installed in a traditional manor, you should fine inkscape.exe in c\program files\inkscape. Double clicking that will start it. You can make a shortcut to it anywhere you wish. If you installed via the Windows Store, I have no clue where that monstrosity puts it. You mention Cortana so I am a...

Re: Document Properties Not Displaying
If you download a 7z version of inkscape, (like a zip file,) and extract it to a folder, you can double click the inkscape.exe to start the program. This means you can have every how many versions installed you like. This is opposed to using the exe or msi installers, or the store, (if your on Windo...

Re: Inkscape NEEDS CMYK Color Mode
I agree with you IcyPro. CMYK and spot color support would be great in Inkscape. It definitely holds back many in industry from adopting Inkscape. I don't have the technical skills to code such a solution but have enough to know how difficult it could be. In the end, it has to be able to output a PD...

Re: Document Properties Not Displaying
Maybe it is opening off screen. Not sure on a mac how to reel in a window offscreen. Maybe change screen resolution to a lower setting then back again.

Re: Making a template for Plasma cutting??
What about just making a symbol and using the symbol library? It would put your design in the library and then you just click to bring it in. Maybe not exactly what your after but seems in the same ball park.

Re: Objects Docker
I am schooled. I had thought ctrl+click entered the group, not just just accessed. Obviously my precision of terms is off.

Re: Objects Docker
I have noticed, that if you have a group and bring up the object docker, select an item. The group becomes partially ungroup. That is it still shows as a group in Objects, but on canvas they are independent. Note the status bar... you have likely "entered" the group. I see the difference ...

I think you might be right on the transform idea. I'll look some more. But thought I would respond anyway just to keep the thread going. I was hoping form some a response or two more from someone that had a keen observation or two I might have missed.

Objects Docker
I have used the Object Docker on occasion, to find objects or paths that are under other objects, to make selections easier, and to toggle visibility on an object level rather than a layer level. But now I have been trying to do more with the docker and it does very strange things time to time. I wa...
