[solved] Certain object disappearing after combining paths

Postby Essem » Thu Apr 27, 2017 7:09 am

Hello,
I am making an icon pack using Inkscape that is focused around brand and social icons. I am planning on adding the FreeBSD logo to the pack, so I have been recreating the logo: SVG Image
However, when I try to combine paths and set the color to black, this appears: SVG Image
As you can see, instead of it having no color like the other objects, the right ear turns completely black. How do I fix this? Thanks in advance.

Hi.

With the node tool select one node on the "disappeared/filled in" subpath and reverse the path's direction (option in path menu).

This might help to understand what's going on and why...

Because it's hard to say for sure what's happening, by looking at a screenshot (instead of SVG file), it's possible there's a different problem.

It's possible the missing ear was accidentally not selected for the Combining, and is hiding underneath.

Or theoretically, there could even be another problem. Did you notice that you lost the white color, and it's now transparent?

If you can't get it working, you could share the SVG file with us, and we can look at it directly.

This worked. Thanks!

The raw SVG files are attached above; however, Lazur's post worked for me. Thanks anyway.

Oh, look at that! Is svgur.com related to imgur? Looks like a new place for hosting SVGs? At least it's new to me. (I generally don't expect to see SVG images inserted into the messages, because as far as I know, those bbcode buttons are currently broken in this forum. So that's great to see another image host accepting SVGs! I'll try to remember to check each image now, so I won't miss SVGs.
