Hi, I'm new in this forum.
and starting from january 2015, i decide to practice using inkscape everyday (because this software is free, no money need).
I try to draw some object and try to make it near to realistic drawing. Here are some of my drawing using inkscape.
I hope i can get feedback from you all skilfull inkscape user.
many thanks for comments and suggestion for improvement

Trying to draw realistic object using inkscape
Re: Trying to draw realistic object using inkscape
Hi.
Wow! Impressive.
The woodgrain on the turntable looks very realistic, did you make it in Inkscape or is it a bitmap?
In case you made it - how? Do you care to share your knowledge?

The woodgrain is pretty simple,
I didn't make it from the scratch, it using bitmap and tweaking in inscape. I just use clip tools on the bitmap and make some gradient layer to adjust the light.
I found this trick incidentally

Very nice and good work! It seems you learned very, very fast! Did you have some experience with graphics before you started with Inkscape?
I think the paper clip is the most realistic. The only thing is, it needs to be holding some paper, because we can't see the bottom "wing" of the clip. Even at this angle, I think we would see some evidence that it is underneath, even if we can't see very much of it. Next I like the turntable, except I have never seen a turntable built on a block of wood. But I like how it looks! For the bell, I'm not quite sure. Something seems "off" about it, but I "can't put my finger on it" (can't quite verbalize why it doesn't seem as realistic as the others). Maybe it's the white background?
Anyway, nice work

i don't know i'm learning fast or not.Well actually, before inkscape in 2006 i learning macromedia flash, i learn by myself after college. maybe thats give me some basic knowledge about graphics.
inkscape is good software and its free, i want to keep practice and practice. I agree with you brynn, the bell image seems "off". maybe its too much blur effects on it.
thanks for your good comment brynn

The turntable is very impressive, I would change (complexify) the black and white border tho make it perfect. Somthing disturb me whit the paper clip. When the black part look realistic, the brown reflects give me the impression it's a litle bit distorted. But I think you're learning very fast too, and the mechanical parts of the turntable are simply excellent.

Nice work on the 3D effects especially on the clip. I particularly like the detail that you put into the turntable. I think that the thing that is off about the bell is that it is pure silver and has no reflections of surrounding objects/colors, like real mettle would, but it still looks very good.
