Re: mountains
wonderful atmosphere
although it's a bit weird to make the distant mountains in focus and near ones blurred

Re: mountains
yeah, i noticed that as well. the thing is the extra blur is an illusion because there are more details (highlights and shadows) on the nearer mountains. The mountains themselves have the same amount of blur, but b/c there are more areas of blurred details the nearer mountains appear more out of focus. I'll have to find a way to fix that.
Re: mountains
Very nice!
Wouldn't a simple clip work?

Re: mountains
I think the way to fix it is going to be ungrouping all my mountains and their highlights and changing the various blur levels. What were you thinking I would clip to get rid of this problem?brynn wrote:Very nice!I'll have to find a way to fix that.

Re: mountains
Well now that I've had another look at it, I don't notice the blur problem as much.
I guess the trees would, in reality, create a sort of blur, compared to the starkness of the snow and ice. And honestly, without knowing how you made the mountains, it would be hard to give concrete suggestions. But I was thinking generally of clipping the individual parts that make up the horizon of the green and brown mountains, making the peaks as sharp as the snow-covered mountains. ....unless the peaks are actually tree-covered. (I guess I kind of see the trees covering the lower 2/3 to 3/4, and the tops as rocky.)
But when I 1st suggested clipping, I didn't realize you had them all equally blurred. Your thought of individualizing the blurs might just do the trick!

Re: mountains
how about blurring the mountain/sky border? real mountains in the distance are not clear cut either.
