Make Bezier Line Thinner

Postby aliendough » Mon Apr 16, 2012 4:37 am

Hi guys,

How can I make the Bezier Tool - :tool_pen: draw thinner lines? It would be helpful when I'm done tracing something and then it comes to colouring the picture, for which I use GIMP.

Here's a visual example:

Is there I way I can make those lines thinner?

To make your line thinner, left click the line you created using your bezier tool.

Then hold down Ctrl + Shift and hit the F key. Your "Fill and Stroke" dialog box should appear.

Top right, click "Stroke style" tab.

By default, the thickness of the line is at 1.000 px. Feel free to reduce or enlarge it from this dialog box.

You can even make it a dotted line from the options available to you here.

setting a new thickness
  1. Press F1 or click the ( :tool_selector: ) Tool Selector
  2. Click the line you desire to reflect the new default
  3. Open Inkscape Properties (Ctrl + Shift + P)
  4. Left side: under "Tools" click "Pen"
  5. Right side: click "Take from selection" button

Hi there,

I have the same problem, adjusting the thickness of something drawn with the pen tool.
The suggested solution, however, doesn't work anymore in Inkscape 0.91 (r13725), as something drawn with the pen tool doesn't have a stroke, only fill.

Is this a bug or how is it done in .91?

Thank you!

PS, I'm on OSX/10.7.5

Hi.

Set your pen tool to bezier line instead of spiro path in the toolmenu before drawing.

You can also remove the fill and set a stroke after the object has been drawn.

Hi.

That is the new implementation of the previous pattern along path lpe -the elliptical shape you chose in the toolbar settings.
As far as I know now it uses powerstroke lpe.

Open the live path effects editor to thicken the stroke by handles.
(Previously the pattern along path lpe could be made thicker by adjusting the pattern's width, in the lpe editor and not in the fill and stroke panel too.)

Thank you @Lazur! Works like a charm.

@ragistian Both modes, normal Bezier and Spiro have only fill, no stroke in my copy of version .91. But thanks for your efforts anyway ;).
