[solved] Problems with "Save as DXF"

Postby KitteCAD » Wed Sep 10, 2008 6:35 pm

Hi folks

I need to produce a .dxf format for laser cutting. One year ago "it worked somehow" with an older version of inkscape. With 0.47 it seems not to work anymore.

For testing I draw a simple spline path and save the .dxf directly. A black window flashes for a split second and a 2kB file is produced. The import window of SolidWorks (3D-CAD) stays empty or with a little coloured dot somewhere. Looks like there is a microscopic information of geometry that is not scalable. If going further a derived drawing is empty, too. Sometimes with playing around I could reproduce this colour dots or not. First it depended on saving the drawn paths as .svg first, then closing inkscape, restarting it and then saving as .dxf etc.

To me it seems as if the produced .dxf is formally correct for SolidWorks does not deliver a warning. When I tried saving objects directly into .dxf SWX says no.

Is there someone who can help me? More esoteric knowledge needed :D ???

Problem solved (hopefully) !!! :D First I save it as .ps., than generate a .dxf via pstoedit ... very useful.

Please check the tut I wrote for mistakes etc. for I am no native speaker. You'll find it in the download section of my website http://www.sinogowitz.ch
