low saturation

Postby strablet » Sat Oct 12, 2013 2:47 pm

As far as technique goes, this whole picture was a practice in colorlessness. I wanted the final thing to look like there was almost no color in it at all. Imagine an overcast day. Although it’s cloudy, the day is still bright. There are no shadows. And there is almost no color saturation to speak of.

interesting work. didn't know that colornessless can be practised insofar as colornessless is kind of origin of colors, describing the absence of color or knowledge/experience of what color is. so it would be really difficult to practise colornessless while using brown and grey - tones. as far as thinking of colorlessness is leading, there would be no possible way of practising that "colorlessness" except being what colornessless is which could not not be done and therefore doesn't need practice as simply being what you are is not a matter of doing or not doing, decisions or not-decisions, knowledge or not-knowledge or thinking and not-thinking.
