Running 0.48.3.1 on Ubuntu 12.04. The text I've added is not showing when I save a copy to EPS. I'm selcting 'save texts to paths' and postscript level 2 when saving. Text does show when saving to PDF. I've also been able in the past to get added text to show when saving to EPS, just not now. Searches show that this is a common problem. Any known solutions? The PPA for newer versions like 0.48.5 is broken, as I found out after trying to install it.

As far as I remember postscript level 1 works right, mentioned here somewhere (I didn't check it).

Not clear how one selects postscript level 1. I just tried saving as postscript (.ps) and in the dialog the options were postscript level 2 or 3. No level 1 shows. Moreover, the output file did not show the text.

Oh sorry I remebered wrong it was the lower level.
But now I did try to sava a text into a .ps file, and it did work with the convert texts to outlines option.

What kind of font did you use? Did you try to change it to another one?

The default was 'Sans' and that is what I used. Switching to Nimbus No 9 also does not show. Must admit I am skeptical that font type would affect whether text is correctly rendered in EPS output.

I should repeat that in the past I have gotten text to show on EPS output. What font type works for you? I wlll try that. Probably best if I use Adobe Illustrator for this task rather than battle this bug.

I tried din 1451 mittelschrift, with Inkscape 0.48.4 r9939 on opensuse.

The text does appear when using Inkscape 0.48.4 (I had tried 0.48.3). So it may be that the bug has been addressed. Not sure.
