Hello folks, what do you think about this product?
http://www.wacom.eu/index2.asp?lang=en&pid=9226&gm=4
On the website I can read
"Save time and export your sketches with layers directly into Adobe® Photoshop® or Illustrator® (CS3 or higher), or Autodesk® SketchBook® Pro or SketchBook® Designer (2011 or higher) as vector graphics "
but I can confirm Inkscape is reading the svg file made with the Inkling but we do not have various layers like in Illustrator unfortunately.
Do you think should be attractive for us?

Hi spaventapasseri,
Do you mean "attractive for us" Inkscape users? If Inkscape is reading the SVG, it sounds like a good thing. There are so very many Inkscape users, who also use Wacom products, you'd think Wacom would develop with Inkscape in mind, as far as the layers. However, keeping in mind that Inkscape's layers are not the same as those other programs, perhaps it's not possible. (Inkscape layers are really just special groups. I think it's because the XML/SVG standard doesn't include layers. I'm not sure if it doesn't include layers yet, or if it never will.)
But I still think it should be attractive to Inkscape users. It looks like you can sketch, and it automatically creates an SVG file. That sounds awesome to me! Or is that really no different from other Wacom products? I'm not actually a tablet user

yeah you can sketch in any papers A4 and straight you can import SVG(or other format) to modify with.
For sketch I think is an innovation, but the problem for me are the layers and also have a look to this sketch.
original sketch left, file imported on inkling right
Here you will find the review from one italian artist on his own blog.
Italian language
I` ve also asked for the SVG and actually is a path.
You can modifiy through the nodes every lines.
It would be nice if the Wacom users let us know what are thinking about it
Re: Inkling Wacom
Do you have a file with a few layers that you'd be willing to share? Perhaps someone would be willing to look into adding support to get the layers imported/converted correctly when Inkscape opens the SVG file.

I asked the file to his own owner and here we go.
The file was drawn in three layers.

What do you mean ? You exported your work in svg and Illustrator can read it (and get layers) and inkscape can not ?
FWIU in the sample svg provided there's no information about layer.
Re: Inkling Wacom
Is anyone using the Inkling successfully with Inscape? Would you recommend this device for sketches? Most of the reviews on the web are very mixed, with many complaining about lack of accuracy. With that said, at it's current price it's still tempting (I'm considering it as a gift for my mom).
