Hi all, I'm something of a novice when it comes to using Inkscape but up til now I've managed to muddle through. I'm looking for a way to fit (or otherwise skew) some text to a shape using either Inkscape or Gimp. I'd imagine that this is possible but I've had no luck discovering a method on my own. To specify the problem, I'm trying to achieve the effect used in the below image (ie the text fitted to a triangle coming from the woman's mouth). Can anyone suggest any techniques, tutorials, or features that could help me?
Cheers
[solved] Fitting text to shapes
Re: Fitting text to shapes
You need Perspective effect for that. You probably have that feature in Gimp but Im not experienced enough to point you to it.
In Inkscape you have to create a 4 node path that is the skeleton for the distortion (so it's not really triangle as you suggested). It is located in Effects > Modify Path > Perspective. If you're using version 0.45 the first node in the quadrilateral (skeleton) must be the bottom left one (so start drawing your skeleton starting at the bottom left using Bezier tool ).

Re: Fitting text to shapes
as Prkos has indicated this is what you will need, but you must do it a certain way.You need Perspective effect for that
1. Select the and type your text.
2. Then turn your text into a selection with the
3. Then in the Inkscape Menu (Path>Object to Path)
4. Click the and make your pespective shape. Beginning with the bottom left>top left>top right>bottom right>close the shape. (make sure no fill, but has a stroke)
5.With the select the perspective shape first and then your text.
6. Menu: Effects>Modify Path>Perspective
7. Viola you have perspective text.
Oh what the heck if you are still having problems this thread should clear everything up for you.

Cheers to both prkos and capnhud. It turns out that I was using an older version so that particular feature was missing. Its working great now though so thanks
