Logo

Postby dasmann » Fri Nov 14, 2008 4:00 am

I'm working on a logo for a new company I am starting up in January. I've got a basic lay out and I like it, but I am not sure if I am keeping it too simple. Please let me know what you think.

Thanks.Image

The blue circle looks a little out of place--it's not used in a way that really adds to the logo.

Logos are supposed to be simple, you have to take an idea (like the company credo) and pour it into simplest graphical form you can, it should be a symbol.

Your logo looks a bit cluttered and without direction. It could be because I don't know what the company is about and what the message should contain.
Why is there a thin line behind the name? It doesn't seem to be adding to some meaning, why is it only reaching half through the "m"? Why is the first letter in italics?
The yellow shape seems to represent movement, action and change, because from a stable fully symmetrical object of one color (circle) emerges an elongated shape of a different color, does that fit with your company?

I like the main font, it's strong and "corporate".
I would put "international" into smaller font size and all caps, and align it with the name to the right side, or stretch the space between the letters to fill entire length from "p" to "m", I think it might bring more stability to the logo.
The color of the name changes gradually, but not enough to notice at first glance, is it important?

We need more info to understand what kind of logo you need ;)

Thanks of the advice, I've tried a copy of things. I removed the blue circle, though I feel that it tones down the yellow with it there. I tried a different yellow on one and stretched the international.

The company is base around electronic medical records development, it's really a rename from another company that's direction is going completely different then the original concept 10 years ago. I feel it's time for a change for the company. I wanted this logo to be a little more personal to me as the other was made by someone. I like it, but it always seemed a little off. You can view that logo at http://www.fullmotions.com, the length of the company name was a little much as well.

I really like your variations, prkos. Although the blue text probably doesn't need a white stroke.
