For my Arduino/Processing project

I'm working on an Arduino/Processing project that will read and display temperature so I thought it would be fun to use one of those paper key ring labels with a metal rim. I won't use the text on the actual image that is loaded into the processing sketch. I will probably come back a tweak it some more just for fun. It might be fun to add a string through the hole. I have never tried doing something like a string so I'm not sure how to go about doing something like that. If anyone has any suggestions or knows of any tutorials on how to do string or rope they would be most welcome.

Amazing StevenD!

I recently unpacked some boxes that I inherited, well, originally from my grandparents, but via my parents. Why someone wanted to save keys, I have no idea! But I hope to do some scrapbooking some day, so they will be nice trinkets to include. Anyway, one of them has a tag almost identical to the one you drew! It has handwriting, rather than typed. And the ink has faded and blurred, maybe it got wet or something, because there are some drop-like markings. And the ring is a little rusty and not so shiny anymore. Anyway, long story longer, your image is very realistic and elicited an emotional connection for me. Gosh, I wish I could draw like that!

I think there's an extension for making knots. Might work for string/rope. Let's see if I can find it.... Ok no, not extension, but LPE. I have not ever used it, so can't give you any tips, or even whether it would do what you want. So for whatever it's worth

But you basically want to depict sort of a stretched out spiral, which you probably already knew. I did sort of a similar thing with a spirogram. But I don't think it would work for string/rope.

Anyway, nice work :D

brynn,

Thank you for the kinds words. Thanks for posting the link to the stretched out spiral. I have played around with spirals but not like that. I'm thinking now instead of making a wire ring instead of a string which may be more appropriate. We have some bunches of keys that have some of those wire rings on them. We shall see.

Anyway thanks for the encouragement.
