I have a SVG document that was created via import/export from Libre Office Draw.
When I have it open in inkscape, I can't see objects outside the page. I drag them off, and they dis spear. Its as if the page is clipping. How can I stop this behavior? I want to see everything in the document, not just in the page
Page area clipping?
Re: Page area clipping?
Hello,
You are right, is clipped. Aparently, there is no option in Libre Office to avoid this behavior.
To release the clipping path, you will have to ungroup (several times) the imported SVG from LibreOffice. Check the messages that appear in the bottom bar in inkscape. When you see something like " group xxxx clipped by path xxxx", then it's time to go to the Object Menu >> Clip sub menu >> release.

If you have problems:
1.- Post a sample (or samples) of your file please.

Re: Page area clipping?
I assume it is ok to go on with this thread? I have the same problem.
I imported a file created with Maperitive. It is clipped to the page limits, with the page having arbitrary dimensions. If I change the page size to A4, not only the old clipping stays there with the old size, but the visible part of the map is a little off.
Tried to ungroup, unclip, uncombine... no results. What am I missing?
Thanks.
EDIT: I just upgraded from 0.48 to 0.91.

Re: Page area clipping?
Might be best to upload (or link to) an example file.
Have a nice day.
I'm using Inkscape 0.92.2 (5c3e80d, 2017-08-06), 64 bit win8.1
The Inkscape manual has lots of helpful info! http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/

Re: Page area clipping?
Sorry for the delay. Here is a tiny sample file.

I managed to unclip the thing by deleting the appropriate line with the XML editor, but that there must be a better way to do it.

Re: Page area clipping?
The clip path is set on the <svg> element already. That element can't be accessed directly in Inkscape via GUI, as far as I know.
