Need help making drawings into single line art 4 whiteboard

Hi I need to make traced bitmaps with various parts into a single line drawing. For example I bitmap trace some simple black and white clip art and it results in a black silhouette with many white parts laid over.

I would like to make this into a single continuous line instead.

Reason being I am using some whiteboard sketch software and the multipart traces draw strangely verse naturally.

Might be possible to boolean them into one object.

Thanks, but do you think that would work with a cartoon person? Sounds more like a cookie cutter for basic shapes. I was hoping there was some kind of single line trace or a way to merge them all.

That operation was performed with one click. You could try it and see what happens...

The one on the left is the grouped objects the one on the right is what I would like the final product to look like.

You might try trace with the Stacked option unchecked.

Tyler, tried what you suggested and it still comes out as multiple objects verse a single line. I found this out by selecting the 'edit paths nodes' and you could clearly see it is outlined verse a single line.

It is because Inkscape does not do a centerline trace.
You need to run a bitmap (preferably with thinner lines) through some other tracing application or use an on line convertor such as
http://www.roitsystems.com/cgi-bin/autotrace/tracer.pl with centerline trace enabled and maybe the corner threshold upped a bit, say 150. Then into Inkscape for some improvement.
