Hi
Just recently I have run into a problem where i am unable to change the font that is selected. Equally annoying is the font that is selected at the moment - of course, the one you are left with is one that you would only use once every ten years!
I am using Inkscape 0.46. Running it on a linux machine running Ubuntu 8.04
What happens is this:
Inkscape opens a file normally.
I can click on the text tool and then click on the dropdown list of fonts to see the list. This works fine. I can see the list of installed fonts.
Problems start at this point!
If I attempt to select another font - the font is highlighted in the list but when the list closes the original font is still active.
If I select some text and try and change the font of existing text I can click on a new font in the list until the cows come home and nothing happens.
During all of this Inkscape slows down to a snail like crawl.
So, I have taken all the extra fonts ( 100 or so ) out of 'action' and reduced the list to the minimum. No improvement.
I have deleted the one active font. Inkscape uses the default system font to show the text but the name of the original font is still displayed in the list and I still can't change that.
I am doing a clean install of Inkscape as I write this which may help.... No still the same thing. Weird also because the problem font name is still being displayed. The font is not available to inkscape and this was meant to be a new install so where is that name coming from....
Anybody got any ideas?
Unable to change font.
Re: Unable to change font.
known bug in 0.46. You can change fonts via the Text tool dialogue but not via the drop down menu on the toolbar.

Re: Unable to change font.
I'm running Windows Vista and using version 0.46 and just discovered yesterday
that Fonts can now be changed with clicking "A" in tool box, then selecting font, and
it will stay. Then can change as you wish without going to Text. Drop-down even
shows what the Font looks like. Also, change Fonts as many times as you like in the
screen you're working in. Great !!!
