Whenever I open a svg file (normal or inkscape format) I've made using inkscape in a program other than inkscape, large black rectangles render throughout. Some of them are on top of my drawings, others underneath. Inkscape itself however can read the files without these problems and exported PNG files are also immune.
I'm running V0.46 under Ubuntu 8.04. I've also tried viewing the files under different operating systems and different programs to no avail.
Black rectangles in SVG files made by inkscape
Re: Black rectangles in SVG files made by inkscape
Thanks for the response-it is surprising that most viewers aren't compliant with W3C standards.
I found my way around this by converting the text to paths.

In this case it's Inkscape that isn't compliant.

Alternatively, you can use "Convert to Text" (on the Text menu) - although you may then need to save as Plain SVG, due to another bug.
