Ooh that was fun! Thanks for the tutorial! I knew about kerning and a little about offsets but this helped. This is what I threw together in only a couple of minutes(obviously didn't follow the tutorial to a T for this one):

I love how the text is changeable at any time and it keeps the sweet border effects. Inkscape = teh awesome.

Sometimes I forget how exciting text can be. Your tutorial is a great demonstration of what can be easily achieved in Inkscape. I certainly wasn't aware of all the ways to manipulate text and including the link to http://www.ffnn.nl/pages/articles/media ... tricks.php is highly appreciated.

Your demo image is really eye catching. I love how the characters stack and balance on top of, and against, each other.
