I am trying a business card (two faces) using inkscape. I created the two svg files (85mm x 50mm, one fot the front face, the other for the back face); both look fine in the window
Now I would like to create a A4 page, containing 8 copies(a mosaic) of the card (so printing 12 pages and using a paper cutter to get the individual cards). I wanted to convert first the svg into jpg, but I only find the png option, and once exported, the logos loose definition, becoming unusable. Export to pdf results in a distorsion of original sizes and text overlapping.
I am new to inkscape, and I am stucked here.
Thanks
From svg to jpg
Re: From svg to jpg
Hi - you are going to print them - did you work in CMYK mode? A .tiff file would be better than a .jpg but the vector file itself would be perfect. I have read in this forum that most printers can handle vector files.

I suggest you keep the layout in vector using SVG as the file format to edit, and save a copy of the 8-up layout as PDF with the option selected to convert Text-to-paths, for printing. That should keep the text formatting of your design. Some svg filters might not convert elegantly to PDF, but you can post examples of any issues for more help.
I don't bother to work CMYK, the pro shops will convert if needed.
Have a nice day.
I'm using Inkscape 0.92.2 (5c3e80d, 2017-08-06), 64 bit win8.1
The Inkscape manual has lots of helpful info! http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/

Re: From svg to jpg
The basic svg borders are set to A4 size in inkscape, by saving as pdf there shouldn't be a problem in distortion.
Unless there is something intentional going on?
Like check in the inkscape preferences (Shift+Ctrl+P) if the transformations are optimised -should be probably-.
How to put it together:
Group (Ctrl+G) each sides of the design you want to print, and
use the cloning feature (Alt+D) and the align and distribute panel (Ctrl+Shift+A) to make a page layout.
-Set page borders back to A4 in the document's properties if necessary (Shift+Ctrl+D).-
Then, make one pdf containing 8 of one side, and one with 8 copies from the other side, and use a program like pdfsam to merge the two separate pdf-s.
If those two are matching, on a right printer you can print on both sides at once.
