I don't know if anyone else has this problem, but I do.
NOTE: I have not noticed any pattern to this issue occurring.
Sometimes the programs will work fine. But then at random times, something happens and I can't do this following things:
.Can't zoom in/out
.Cant Scroll up/down
.Clicking on an object doesn't select it
.I can't pick on of the tools with out clicking on the butting like 10 times, but then even then, it brings up this little menu, and doesn't actually select the tool
.Just clicking on one of the colors on the bottom won't change stroke or fill
This issue will still continue even AFTER closing/reopening the program, even if you do it 10 times.
But then suddenly, it will start working again.
It's VERY annoying, and I can't get anything done when this happens. How do I fix this? And dose anyone else have this problem?

Re: Annoying Issue: NEED HELP
Hi WeirdGuy,
which Inkscape version are you using, and what is your operating system? Are there any dialogs open (some dialogs are 'modal', they prevent clicks in the interface to have any effect), when this happens?

Re: Annoying Issue: NEED HELP
Does this happen in a new blank document? Or are you working on an existing image?
If the file size is too much for Inkscape to handle, and you ask Inkscape to do something -- especially this is noticable when zooming -- it seems like your mouse is broken, because nothing happens, no matter what you do. The whole program is basically dead until Inskcape finallly finishes zooming (or whatever you asked it to do). If you keep adding more and more contents to the file, eventually Inkscape's going to crash, instead of just freezing up.
Inkscape primarily needs RAM to function (more than cpu or graphics card). I've never seen any minimum system requirements for Inkscape. But I would say, with the current stable release (0.91) the minimum RAM would be 3 or 4 gb. The bare minimum is 2 gb, but you couldn't work on a file larger than.....I guess, 5 or 10 mb.
How much RAM do you have, and how large is the image?
Here's a tutorial/article I wrote, to help avoid or work with performance issues (if this is actually your problem)

Otherwise, have you noticed any problems with your mouse, outside of Inkscape?

Re: Annoying Issue: NEED HELP
@Moini:
It says it's Inkscape .91
I'm using Windows 7
I don't know what "dialogs" your talking about.
@brynn:
It can happen both during working on one, and it can happen on a blank document.
My mouse isn't broken, because I can zoom in/out and scroll on the Internet and other programs.
It says I have 4.00 GB of ram.
It can mess up even if its 20X20 pixels, and it can mess up if its 1000x1000 pixels. I haven't noticed any patterns associated with size.
Like I said before, no. My mouse works fine in any other program.

Re: Annoying Issue: NEED HELP
How many instances of Inkscape do you have open at one time? I've heard of stange behvior like this when someone had....I don't remember, well over 50 Inkscape windows open at the same time.
I can't think of anything else right now (time for nap). But I"ll put my mind back to it later, and follow the discussion.

Oh wait, I did think of something pretty quick.
Are you using a dual or multiple monitor setup? any unusual resolution, screen magnifier or other assistive devices or features?
