Welcome aboard!

You need to save an empty file with the right settings as a template in the right folder.
Like in this topic.
(Not completely sure about the folder, maybe I can be corrected.)

Here are some technical templates if needed.

I suggest to check the preferences (Shift+Ctrl+P) too. You can increase the precision at the svg output settings,
can set absolute coordinates in the paths, switch to geometric bounding box etc.

The short version, for how to do it:

1 -- Open a new blank doc.
2 -- Set it up just like you want it to be, every time you open it.
3 -- Save it as default.svg in the proper folder.
4 -- To find the proper folder, go to Inkscape Preferences > System > User config. Copy the path that is shown there, and paste it into your file manager. When you browse there in the file manages, if you see a folder there called "templates" that's the proper folder. If it's not there, you can just create it yourself.

Or you can also make a custom template for some new docs, but not all. For example, I often use Inskcape to write tutorials. So I made a special template for myself. But it's not the default template -- it doesn't open automatically when I start Inkscape. Instead, I named it tutorials.svg. When I want to use it, I start Inkscape (and Inkscape loads my custom default doc). Then I go to File menu > Templates, and find my tutorials template and open it.

I think I wrote a tutorial for this forum, it would be in the Trick and Tutorials board.....but I can't remember for sure. Maybe I was just thinking about writing one, and never got around to it.

But here's a detailed tutorial (that I did not write): http://libregraphicsworld.org/blog/entr ... n-inkscape

Reason: add info for non-default custom template

Step #3 above. Save it as "default.svg" without the quotes. It will open automatically, if you save it in the proper folder (#4 above).
