Hi
I am a new user. I downloaded Inkscape about 10 days ago. I am using Windows 7 64 bit.
I am trying to print a rectangle on an A4 landscape page. The edges of the rectangle are to be 10mm in from the edges of the paper. To do this, I used the following settings for the rectangle:
X: 10mm
Y: 10
W: 277
H: 190
The rectangle show correctly on the screen. But when I print, I get the following two problems:
First Problem
The printer will not print from the cassette loaded with A4 paper. It will only print from the slot where a single sheet of paper is inserted. I think the problem is that Inkscape is telling the printer that a custom paper size is being used, so the printer will not use the A4 paper loaded in the cassette. (Paper is set as A4 landscape in Document Properties.)
Second Problem
The rectangle is printing off centre. Each side of the rectangle should be 10mm from the edge of the paper, but distances are approx as follows:
Top: top of rectangle does not print ie it is off the paper.
Left: 3mm
Right: 15mm
Bottom: 15mm
I have tried setting margins in Document Properties to overcome the problem, but I can't get this right.
Any advice on how to set paper size, margins, etc would be appreciated.
Page Size and Margins problem
Re: Page Size and Margins problem
Welcome aboard!
If you save your image as pdf, with exactly A4 sized borders, and print outside inkscape, it works in most cases.
At the reader's print setup, there is an option to "print actual size", that will hopefully solve those problems.
