I can't figure out why i am getting lines showing on the gradient radiating out from behind the heart where the colour is lighter. It should be smooth (has been before on other work) but viewed at 100% the curved lines are really visible.
Can't see what the problem is or how can i get rid of them! grrrrrrrr

Re: Annoying Gradient Lines
This is a known problem (bug 180693). In general, there are two different causes: lack of dithering (somewhat surprisingly it really is necessary to dither 24-bit colour for some gradients), and the fact that Inkscape divides each gradient into only 1024 colours for the purpose of rendering.
Looking at your close-up, the second cause appears to be the main problem. I would try rendering the SVG file with Batik to see if it does any better.

Thanks.. appreciate the response and suggestions.
hmm i am thinking i picked the wrong software to use for a professional finish tho.
These gradient issues seem to infest all but the most pro (expensive) software out there.. ?!
All very disheartening (forgive the pun based on the image above) but i am thinking of going back to photography and waiting until Inkscape fixes this problem. When ever that will be....

Davey777,
It's not a matter of being "pro" or not. Don't forget Inkscape is a work in progress and that's why it's 0.47 and not 1.something Rendering is on the way and will be greatly improved probably towards 0.49.

I do like inkscape.. i found it easy to use and not overly complicated. Just a bit frustrated at the mo. I'll watch for further developments tho
