[solved] Stray lines / damaged paths

Postby raven » Thu Jun 05, 2008 8:12 am

Hi,

i have a problem with an image i am creating. I started from a bitmap image, vectorized that in inkscape (v0.46) and then did _a lot_ of editing. The image consists of two big paths, each has around 400 nodes. Everything looks fine in normal mode, but when i switch to outline-mode it shows a lot of "stray" lines, sometimes starting from exisiting nodes, ending in the middle of nowhere. Since it's a bit hard to explain in words, please have a look at the following images:

SVG: http://www.petaimg.com/uploads/1212658288.svg
It looks ok in normal mode:

Strange lines in wireframe/outline mode:

Also, when i export it to eps and look at it again in inkscape, it looks like this: http://www.petaimg.com/uploads/1212656826.png
But it looks fine in other eps Viewers (tried gv and Evince), so i don't know it thats a real problem.

I want to submit that image to spreadshirt, a t-shirt printing service, for flex-plotting them , so i'm a bit concerned that those "errors" may cause problems with the plotter...

Any tips on what i could do to "clean up" those paths?

Bye,
Raven

You might have to go to the developers with that one. I see the lines also, but they appear to be a rendering glitch. they're not selectable and the'll disappear and move when you manipulate the display port (i.e. zoom, pan the canvas, toggle between outline and normal).

This was a bug in 0.46, fixed in the devel version.

Yes, it seems to be only a display glitch, the printer accepted my eps without problems. Thanks for the quick answers!
