[Tutorial] simply draw eyes

Postby fsk » Thu Apr 21, 2011 6:17 pm

HI everyone. This is my first attempt in publishing anything ive done so far in inkscape and i will publish by showing how i get things done and call that tutorials. So this is about how i get eyes done. Its a very simple tutorial and you get quite nice eyes in only a few steps. However, it uses some "advanced" techniques like gradients and masking, but those will be explained with a few words.

Im thankful for every bit of a response and hope you like it.

fsk

ps: since english aint my first language you might find bad grammar and spelling. Furthermore you might find that i call some of the inkscape tools by the wrong name, since i use the german client. feel free to tell me about those, too.

Welcome to InkscapeForum, fsk!

Ah nice! Thanks for sharing this. I haven't had a chance to work through the tutorial, but I hope to do so soon. The most immediate problem for me, is that all but one of the illustrations are showing me the dreaded "red X". The image in Step 2 shows up for me, but none of the others. I can't suggest what the problem might be, because their URLs appear to be in some format which I don't recognize (and incredibly long!).

I just visited the site and it seems all the images are there. Are you still having difficulty with them, Brynn? If so, lemme know.

Oh, and ditto on the "long" part. I've never ever seen a link that long pointing to any image on the web.

Quite impressive.

Probably really hard to remember exactly where the file is located.

;)

I don't want to be his webmaster.

Yeah Bob, I can see the image in Step 2, but none of the others, even now (months later). Plus, the URLs are so long, they won't fit in my browser's (IE) address field!! So I can't use that trick to display them. I halfway think it might actually be the length of the URL that keeps my browser from being able to find them.

I was hoping fsk would reply, but apparently he/she hasn't been back since posting this topic. I could probably get their attention by posting a comment in the blog, but that seems like bad manners.

I've never seen an URL like this (data:image/png;base64,iVBOR....) and don't know what it means.

FYI, here's the URL for the image in Step 3:

EDIT: Well only the first line of the URL shows up after I post the message, so I'm gonna delete it. But here in the editor, it takes 250 lines to display it (PgDn 17.5 times, 14 lines per page!) Why would anyone need that for such an image? I've heard or read somewhere that really long URLs can be a sign of malware, but I don't think that's the case here....is it?
