Didnt want to hijack Miram's thread, but when i read Brynn's post i wanted to ask this question:
i use rotation a lot when i do stuff, so most of the time i have set up two guides that intersect.
I noticed when i snap the rotational center to the guides intersection, and then zoom in, the little cross isnt exactly where it should be. Its very often a bit off.
Why is that ?

Re: Snapping the rotational center to a guides intersection
Hi
This does not happen on my system running Inkscape 0.91 r13725.
Even when zooming in to 25600% the rotation centre is exactly on top of the guide intersection.
What is your setting in Preferences - Input/output - SVG Generation - Numerical precision?
I have mine set to 8 for the Numeric Presision and -8 for the Minimum Exponent.

Im using IS 0.91 and my Numeric Precision has the same values as yours.
Re: Snapping the rotational center to a guides intersection
For me is so well aligned that I have to use the status bar to be sure where it is (when zoomed to the max amount). It's literally precisely on the guide intersection!
I wonder if when you snapped the rotation center, you also had snapping to object center enabled. Maybe it snapped the object's center, and the rotation center is not quite in the same place? Or could the rotation center have snapped to something close to the guide intersection?
I don't know if this is still the case.....I think so. If you have more than 1 grid set up for a document, but one of the isn't showing, objects can still snap to it! That drove me crazy one time!

hmmm, it might be possible i found the problem...there are always these little circles on each guide. Often these are near the intersection. I think that might have distracted the snapping.
Re: Snapping the rotational center to a guides intersection
The little circles are called the Guide Origin (I think). It's what the guide rotates around. But if you don't need to rotate the guide, you can move the origin out of the way. I often do that, because it just represents another snap target, and adds confusion. On the other hand, sometimes another snap target is helpful, especially since you can put it precisely at any point along the guide (double-click the guide, to get the little dialog).

Re: Snapping the rotational center to a guides intersection
The guide origin is where you pull the guide at. Keep an eye to the indication when snapping too, origins can be as strong as intersections.
Hmm how exactly you draw that two guides?
Origins are close to the intersection -was there already a snapping target?
Are the guides there just to mark a point?
Theoretically one guide can do that too.
