Hey all,
Is there somewhere I can print off a copy of the different fonts with the name of that font ?
The reason I ask, someone wanted me to made a sticker for them, and wanted to know if it was possible to see what the different fonts look like?
This is a gymnastics team, so it my turn into a decent amount of stickers lol
Thanks for any help
List of Sample Fonts?
Re: List of Sample Fonts?
You can do that at dafont like right clicking the view element/source -not sure the translation; works with crhrome-.
For example the font http://www.dafont.com/old-school-united-stencil.font, uses the preview text by default the name of the font, a png image http://www.dafont.com/img/preview/o/l/old_school_united_stencil0.png.
Be careful with these fonts, they are mostly free for public use only.
If you want something closest to public domain, look for fonts with open font licensing, at http://openfontlibrary.org/.
Good luck!

Sometimes it is worth buying a large collection of fonts, often found bundled with clipart collections. They often come with printed examples which comprise an entire book.
Now, you can also use Google Fonts:
https://www.google.com/fonts#AboutPlace:about
(open source)
I usually keep about a hundred fonts active, so loading the fonts doesn't take so long and I can show clients some general examples. Even having hundreds or thousands on local drive, clients will request a particular typeface that needs to be acquired.
Fonts are worth paying for, people design them...
"At 40, this short, plump, pinkish, and puckish gentleman kept books for a Chicago realtor, and considered himself a failure. During the next 36 years, starting almost from scratch at an age when most men are permanently set in their chosen vocations, he cut 113 fonts of type, thereby creating more usable faces than did the seven greatest inventors of type and books, from Gutenberg to Garamond."

Have a nice day.
I'm using Inkscape 0.92.2 (5c3e80d, 2017-08-06), 64 bit win8.1
The Inkscape manual has lots of helpful info! http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/

Re: List of Sample Fonts?
maybe have a look at the periodic table of fonts that sorts the font by popularity/family
