gradient help

Postby beckins » Sat Jan 02, 2016 10:29 am

I have been going crazy trying to get this how i want it for ages now!!! Basically i am making a logo, where i have some text with a gradient of 2 colours, and a circle behind it of 2 colours (well white and purple)....my problem is where the text/items sits on top of the circle it changes the colour of the text!! i have fixed the gradient to the objects...and all sliders are at opaque, i am stuggling to work out how adding stops works too! i.e when you click add stop button...what next to click to change colour or add it in a certain place etc. will add a screenshot. thanks in advance.

Hi.

The mentioned gradients go from blue to blue with some alpha value, and not to a lighter blue -so they are transparent.
Objects show through eachother with that fill.

Change the alpha value to 255 and it will look "better".

I would'nt start an argument on the overall graphical look (hardly worked before).
Just saying there alot of topics here with great links to logo designing.
Like follow this one.

Hello

Your oval shape was over your text (I don't have installed your font, by the way). You have to change the order of appearing. Select the shape and press "Page down" in your keyboar, until it appears "behind" your text shape. Or use the icons that should appear at a top bar in your window.

As it's been said before, the gradient of your oval shape had color-stops that had transparency.

About how to edit a gradient... firs of all consult the Inkscape Guide. Now, with Inkscape 0.91, some GUI elements have been added in order to manage the gradients better. Please try to be more specific (step by step) about how you work with gradients. It's complicated for me to explain how I do it, anyway. Try to use this tool :tool_gradient:
If you have problems:
1.- Post a sample (or samples) of your file please.
2.- Please check here:

3.- If you manage to solve your problem, please post here your solution.
