Image thumbs and file handling

Postby RAYF24 » Tue Aug 02, 2016 9:27 pm

Hi all I am new to the forum and not a big user of Inkscape but wish to do more with it I have 2 questions
1; when saving a vector image in the file i get the inkscape logo and file name but I would like to have an image of what has been saved what ever is
saved needs to be openable as a vector without changes.
2; Is it possable to create a toolbar with these images which are components of larger designs for quick use and accsess as oposed to opening folder.

Would like to thank anyone that comments in advance for any help given.

Ray

Hi.

  1. The logo is part of the icon of the file. If svg is opened by inkscape as a default than it will be visible (you can set it to a browser too, then its icon would appear)
What you are after is a thumbnail view instead of the program's associated with it.
That needs changing the display mode of the folder browser and some operating system specific settings.
On gnome skinned linux rendering svg for thumbnails is a basic feature, while on win you need to look for an "add on".
Not sure about what it is, but I remember it was discussed here somewhere.
  2. Doubt you could draw custom thumbnails for separate files as you describe. The svg you save does not have a thumbnail section itself.
Online galleries may need a thumbnail image uploaded separately too next to the svg and that would look siilarly but that's not how file browsers work on your pc.
