Hello,
I just discovered Inskcape, so my question may seems a bit rough ...
I didn't find how I can "merge" easyly 2 shapes in one with the tangent continuity.
Let me explain : my problem is to "merge" or "connect" part of a real circle to a Bezier curve (as for creating a rugby ball from 4 curves, equal 2 by 2).
- I don't know how to "connect" the end of the Bezier curve to "somewhere" on the circle ("Combine" then "Join" doesn't make it) ;
- then I know how to "unsharpen the node" ;
- and finaly delete part of the circle that I don't need ...
As a beside generic question, I didn't find how to snap a node to any part of a curve ?
Thanks for any explanation and sorry for my basic understanding
I'm using V 0.44.1 version
JYS (in France)
Newby question about nodes and "snap to"
Re: Newby question about nodes and "snap to"
It would probably be easier to help if you could post an image with notes on it showing pointing out what you want to do. Describing things in only words makes it more difficult to understand.
You can't directly join a circle to a path, because a circle is a closed path; it doesn't have any end nodes. The Join operation works on two end nodes. Try selecting the node on the circle you want to join to, then use the "Break path at selected nodes" operation. That will turn the selected node into two unconnected end nodes. Then you can select one and Join it to an end node on the curve.
I guess by "unsharpen" you mean turn the node from "cusp" to "smooth" or "symmetric." Cusp nodes are like corners, the two handles don't have to line up, so you get sharp corners. You can Ctrl-click on a node to toggle from cusp to smooth to symmetric, etc.
There are a lot of ways to delete a portion of an object. Probably the easiest is to remove or reshape the object's nodes. Or create a shape that will cover the portion of the circle you want to remove, and use the Difference operation from the Path menu.
