Hoy hoy
Today I installed Inkscape 0.47 in Linux Mint 9. Why not 0.48.1? Because there is not 0.48.1 in Ubuntu or Mint repositorium.

Did you see the indigo Pony, when he came from other side wall of the night?
Re: InkSCape 0.48.1
Ubuntu 10.8 had Inkscape v 0.48.
Ubuntu 11.04 will have Inkscape v 0.48.1
Can't speak about mint, that would depend on which version of Ubuntu/Debian it is based off...

Re: InkSCape 0.48.1
Mint 9 is based on Ubuntu 10.04 LTS - because it is LTS too.

But RPM package for Fedora 15 and 14 was born in march 14 2011. I found him in pbone.net. Hmmmmm..... Sehr strange.

Re: InkSCape 0.48.1
Hoy hoy;
I'm running Ubuntu GNU/Linux 10.10.
The release comes with Inkscape 0.48.0 r9654 in the repositories.
For Inkscape 0.48.1 to make its way through the repositories, I believe it is first tested by Debian, then when it passes it is tested by Canonical (Ubuntu) and then possibly tested by Mint.
Very possible you may have to download the sourcecode, get its dependencies, and compile it yourself.
Here I cannot help you as I'm running Ubuntu and not Mint.

Thankyou for answer.
Linux Mint uses Ubuntu repositories. And his own.
By the way. I don't eat source code.

Re: InkSCape 0.48.1
Ponny;
It may be possible to install Inkscape 0.48.1 on your copy of Mint. This is done by downloading the sourcecode from Inkscape's website and installing it.
Advantage: you get to use the latest version.
Disadvantage: you my have to dive into the pool of learning how to compile.
I'm going to uninstall Inkscape 0.48.0 and do this very thing now. I'm going to take notes on what I did to install 0.48.1. If you are interested in trying it, ask me for my notes and I'll give them to you.
EDIT: I can compile Inkscape in Ubuntu. However, the problem is the massive list of dependencies. It's not as easy as: "Install these 8 things" and provide a list.
As I work through the ./configure, I'm finding that I'm adding quite a number of libraries. So, I think it may be best if you stick with 0.48.0 until you upgrade Mint or move over to Ubuntu 11.04
