I read posts here and some linked to elsewhere but none of the suggestions work.

I downloaded the X11.app from the original disk and then updated to X11 2006 (1.1.3?). The correct Mac version of Inkscape, 0-.47-1.Tiger was downloaded.

When I double click on the Inkscape icon, both X11's and Inkscape's icons appear on the dock. After about 3 seconds, the Inkscape icon disappears. I then tried angrytuna's April 23, 2008 remedy using the terminal in this thread: viewtopic.php" onclick="readonly();return false;"postlink" href="http://www.inkscape.org/">http://www.inkscape.org
with a detailed description of the steps leading to the crash, so we can fix it.

I didn't realize bugs could be reported at inkscape.org. If so, please go ahead and do it. But also please file the same bug report at Launchpad. Launchpad is the usual route for users to communicate with developers outside of the mailing list.

If you got the above error message, then it sounds like your problem will not be solved here, and that the info you provide to the developers will help them to solve your problem.

Also, if it does get resolved any time soon, please post a reply here with the info, for the sake of future users who might come across the same problem.

Solved.
Cause: latest stable version, 0.47 Tiger, is for Mac PPC only, not Intel.
Solution: install 0.46 Tiger (Universal)
