I would love to see a tutorial or even get some help on creating the vector portraits I see on a few of the member's websites. I believe they are being used as links.
Thanks
(oh lol! I thought the post did not show up when I had actually saved it as a draft... silly me)

Re: Tutorial/Help Request
Can you post links so we know specifically which work you are refering to?
Re: Tutorial/Help Request
in my opinion, i think that nicu is awesome at doing those vector protraits or "heads" - he has a collection of his work here and in his howto / tutorial section he suggests that a tutorial for this technique may be in the pipeline... so send him a nice blog comment and read his tutorials (i think they are awesome) and that tut may pop up....

Yes Ryan I've been going through his tutorials as well. VERY helpful stuff! You, Nicu and of MicroUgly for this forum have been a huge help and inspiration! I would love to know how Micro does his coloring (gradient or otherwise).
I was over in the kids section of StarWars.com where they have the "How to Draw" stuff. Anywhoo that section combined with a determined mind and a new found love of vector and inkscape brought about my first drawing. I'll post it in the other area now.

Yup, just gradients - normally gradients from opaque to transparent so it blends with the background. For some drawings I've overlapped a number of subtle transparent radial gradients to create an organic shading shape.
I'd like to make a tutorial, but my colouring normally involves a lot of trial and error, so it would take me ages. I try to make an effort and get one made.
That aside, one tip I can give is to always colour first with a simple linear gradient from top to bottom. Try it with your Anakin drawing. Then build up from there if want more detail.

Thanks for the tip I'll try that out. Would I be correct in thinking you are using different layers for the colors? I cannot seem to get more than one gradient per object.
Re: Tutorial/Help Request
That's right. You can only apply one gradient to an object, but you can overlap many objects with different gradients.
