lol ^^
My first visit to this forum and what should I find near the front page but a little blast from the past based on that old thing I [or rather "C-chan"] wrote. How nostalgic... ^__^

This is pretty cute and a nice expansion over the quick and dirty version from the tutorial (you even redid her hair to make it look like she's about to go to bed -- no doubt right before Kona-chan invited herself into her house yet again).

Very happy to see variable-width paths for the lineart in lieu of the original strokes, since you'd want to do that if you plan on displaying an image of this size (assuming fixed-width strokes aren't part of the art direction, lol). The only thing I might suggest is to crimp her eyes a bit too -- now that the rest of her design is more fluid and organic, the two black rectangles kinda stick out more than ever. ^__~

Very happy to see that someone [or some people?] in this forum read that old thing, btw.
I discontinued precisely because of perceived lack of interest in my old forum, plus other responsibiities I had to attend to at the time. This is why I never got to the more advanced sections on character design (such as variable-width lines, shading and lighting), and also why that tutorial is pretty much stuck in the 0.45 era.

I guess if you have any questions that were left unaddressed in that tutorial, feel free to let me know.

Otherwise, you're equally free to visit my DeviantArt Page to check out my newer works:

A good portion of my older works, and nearly all of my newer ones, are now officially open source, so feel free to check out their SVGs....

In fact, the original ODT for the tutorial is there too!
I could always use a brave volunteer to finish or at least update it for me, lol. ^.^'

"Great Sensei"? LOL! that's bound to get me in trouble in some circles. ^^;

I'm actually knee-deep in Ubunchu (http://ubunchu.net/) translations at the moment (it actually does make some heavy use of Inkscape, especially my inserts). But once I'm done, I'll be glad to pour through some of these threads, see if there's any kind of discussion I can be of some use in.

Wouldn't mind some recommendations. ^^'
