I have downloaded a vector file from fotopia. It was an eps file so I used adobe illustrator to open it and save it as an svg which I opened in Inkscape and built a project. When I try to save this as a pdf the entire fotopia derived image is a bunch of squares and nothing at all like the svg image. Does anyone know a work around for this?

It sounds like an obscure problem. You might need to provide a copy of the file. Although, a guess would be that the image uses clips or masks which doesn't convert properly to PDF. I thought someone might have suggested that the development versions were better at this now, so you could give that a go.

try to use Altsoft Xml2PDF Workstation (http://alt-soft.com/Downloads.aspx). in suits well for converting SVG to PDF, and as i understood you can get an SVG
