I just downloaded inkscape because I was excited about the engraving and calligraphy possibilities. Unfortunately, I can't seem to get the path tracking to work at all. I'm following these instructions:

In short, pressing control (like the tutorial suggests) produces no "track circle" for me. Am I missing something?

Try wiggling with your mouse a bit when you hit control (the circle wont appear until you move it)

Make sure you have "Select new path" ticked, it's in Inkscape Preferences > Tools > Calligraphy (you need this if you want to track along the latest drawn object)

I don't get a circle when I wiggle the mouse, and I don't have "Select New Path" in Preferences > Tools > Calligraphy. Do I have the correct version (0.45.1)? I'm using Windows, is that a problem?

hehe the "problem" is the version, that screenshot is from 0.46 (you will see that screenshots on inkscape.org are organized according to versions), you can see it in your link too .

The good news is that the official 0.46 release for windows is only a couple of days away
