Hi All,

For some reason i cannot export my image as a PNG.

Keep getting this message - Group 12 of object in root. Click selection to toggle scale / rotation handles.

What does this mean and how do export the image as a PNG>

Hmm, when i google root and inkscape a few answers come up.
Are you using the latest Inkscape version ? 0.91

Can you create a new layer, put everything in there (by cut and paste perhaps) and try to export ?
Also what settings do you use for exporting ?

Can you upload your file for someone to fix, or is it sensitive/proprietary material?

A "root" layer will be established when you open a raster image directly with Inkscape instead of using "Import". This isn´t a real layer which you can check in the layer panel and don´t explain why he can´t export his graphic.

Hi cah1234,

there's a bug in the current Inkscape version that doesn't automatically maximize dialogs that have been minimized. If the 'export PNG image' dialog doesn't pop up when you do File -> Export PNG image, look for it in the dock area at the right, it might be iconified with vertical text, or you may need to scroll down in the dock area a bit to find it open.

If you're using multiple monitors, then it may happen that the dialog has opened in another monitor.

Both these are frequent problems in 0.91, unfortunately. We've had many questions about that.

The sentence in the status line only tells you about the selected objects, and is unrelated to the dialog not showing up.
