Keyboard shortcut for select none / deselect all?

I'm wondering if there's a keyboard shortcut for select none (also known as deselect all)?

If there isn't, what's the simplest way to accomplish this, when using the Rectangle tool?

And when I have the Text tool selected, is there a keyboard-only way to switch tools?

Thanks so much for any help/suggestions.
