OK, here's the situation. I'm trying to apply an image to a polygon by importing the image, setting it as a pattern and setting it as fill for the polygon. Problem is, when I do such, the pattern is placed onto the polygon at a seemingly random place, when I want it to fill up the polygon smoothly. As it is, it fills up the polygon with the edges of the pattern in the center. Any ideas??

I think hash pointed you to the right place but in case you are still confused one needs to double click on the object with a pattern and that will expose your adjustment handles. With these handles you'll be able to rotate, scale, and move the pattern inside of the object.
