[solved] Inkscape Right to Left Text

Hi,

Does Inkscape support right to left typing?
Now, when typing Hebrew letters combined with numbers to English text, it's all mixed up.

Is there a solution?

If you're using Inkscape 0.92.2, take a look at the (maybe hidden, click on tiny arrow) options to the outermost right (at least in the English interface) of the text tool's tool bar. There's an option for writing direction. As I don't know how it's supposed to look, I can't tell you if it works or not, unfortunately...

I have updated to version 0.92.2
Can't see that option.
I must have it in order to progress with work I have.

Any ideas?
How can I make this arrow visible?

(if you updated from Inkscape < 0.92, and are on Windows, better uninstall and reinstall, because a simple update will break many python extensions)

I don't have the right to left option either. When I click that arrow, only Orientation is there (Auto, Upright, Sideways). No Direction submenu. (I'm on Windows.)

What kind of update do you mean, Moini, which will break extensions? Windows updates?

And also, how is the right to left option an extension, but not in Extensions menu?

@brynn: forget about the extensions, that hint has nothing to do with the issue at hand.

I see, so that option is not available on Windows? Didn't know... Oh, lol: I've got it in my self-compiled Inkscape 0.92.x version, but not in the 0.92.2 version... You could try the latest 0.92.x (stable branch) build for Windows, 64bit:

I'm curious to see if it will be there...

Well, I don't know that it's not available on any Windows, or if it's only me (or possibly me and the op). I do have 0.92.2, 64-bit, which is the current stable version.

Not sure what you mean by "the latest 0.92.x (stable branch) build for Windows, 64bit". Is there a stable branch of the development version?

I removed the previous version from my laptop, including hidden files and registry, then installed 0.92.2.
Still did not option of changing the text direction.
See my screenshot.

I wanted to updated that I followed Moini's answer and downloaded the file from here:

After extracting, opened Inkscape and indeed the option of RTL appears

And does it work properly, janit? (I cannot read Hebrew, and don't know if that is the desired result for mixing Latin and Hebrew script)

I just wanted to write down that there is another option to get Right-to-Left text if you are missing the RTL button in the user interface. (I don't have it either in Inkscape 0.92.3 on Fedora).

1. Create text box with the text tool.
2. Open the XML editor with (Shift+Ctrl+X)
3. In the right window of the XML editor write "direction", in the value, write RTL, and press Set.
