[solved] I cannot break down an imported svg

Postby exactspace » Tue Dec 20, 2016 1:48 am

I click on the object with the select and transform tool ( :tool_selector: ) and go to Object >> Ungroup and nothing is broken down into separate elements. I try Path >> Break Down. Still nothing. I also tried Path >> Division. The layer is not locked.

Select the object and check the status bar... it should indicate Group, or path, or image, etc. Ungroup until you have a path, image, or shape object.
Have a nice day.

I'm using Inkscape 0.92.2 (5c3e80d, 2017-08-06), 64 bit win8.1

The Inkscape manual has lots of helpful info! http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/

Thanks. It says it is a clone of Group 1. If I use shift + D to look it up, it is says the object I'm trying to select is not visible and that it is in "<defs>"

You can unlink the clone. Edit -> Clones -> Unlink Clone
Something doesn't work? - Keeping an eye on the status bar can save you a lot of time!

Thanks! I noticed to paste them into a new document I needed to do this too.

I may be wrong on this one but isn't such clones with parents in the defs are symbols?
Could it be that you are using 0.48 where the indication line misses that element?
