Hi forum.
I want to ask if this is a known bug in latest stable version of Inkscape avaiable for download to Windows. I kind of struggle to describe the problem properly so please bear with me.
Affected system:
OS: WIndows 10 X64, Norwegian
Inkscape 0.92.3
Problem description:
- Let's have a text somewhere in the document.
- Select all ttext (insert cursor somewhere inside text and tripple click)
- Type something else
Expected behaviour: The typed text became the new content of text object.
What actually happens: Text object dissappear.
Text properties or location seems to have no effect on this misbehaviour. The issue doesn't seem to affect Inkscape on Linux (Ubuntu and derivates, I currently use Linux Lite at home).
If a bug repport is not already filed, I will.

Haven't heard of the issue, no, but you may want to do a search in the reports. Can you try and see if there is already something like that reported?

Triple-click highlights the entire line of text, for me. The next letter I type replaces the highlighted text. Windows 7 Pro, 64-bit, Inkscape 0.92.3

That is the expected behaviour. It works that way on my Linux computer, but not at W10.
Re: Text - overwrite text contents fails [Windows 10]
Ok - I think I've found the one factor that makes Inkscape behave this way.
Since I have a habit to comment "everyting"- I also often put comments, titles or labels on text objects too. So this is what I figured out:
- For a newly created text object, Inkscape will probably behave normally on select+overwrite all contents.
- But if the text object contains some other text in the title field, Inkscape behaves wrongly on select+overwrite all contents.
By "behaves wrongly" i mean to say the text object actually disappears.
I attach a file where the issue affect most of those text objects in the file.

I think I only recently saw a similar issue somewhere... If I could only remember where...
