inkscape not starting correctly

inkscape not starting correctly

Hello, I loaded the latest Inkscape and quartz on my mac os 10.9.5.

Everything seemed to work but I could not paste using command v so I quit and waited till morning.

Now when I start inkscape it has a semi brown screen and no new document to work on. Quartz is shown as running.

Thanks for any ideas where I went wrong.
