Symbol fonts without a Unicode map
Symbol fonts without a Unicode map
I want to convert certain glyphs from a symbol font to a path in Inkscape. Inkscape 4.5 doesn't support symbol fonts without a Unicode map. Therefore I have used FontCreator to drag the glyphs that I'm interested in from the symbol font into a non-symbol font which I can open in Inkscape. After that I can convert each glyph to a path. Is there an easier way to do this?
Re: Symbol fonts without a Unicode map
I got the same problem. I have a CD containing 10000 fonts, collected a few years ago and I couldn't use them in Inkscape. Now I know why...
To import text into Inkscape I wrote it in OpenOffice Draw, using selected font. Then I exported document to PDF and imported PDF into Inkscape. It is recognized as group - you can ungroup it and use object as text (it uses your font look, however Inkascape doesn't "see" this font) - set text on the path for example - or convert it to the path.
It is the shortest way and it is the only way I found to use my collection of fonts.
